Mrs. Jewell Leona Russell, 91, of Corning, AR., passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, AR. Mrs. Russell was born in Coon Island, MO., on April 8, 1924. She was an assembly worker at the shoe factory. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and visiting Florida in the winter. She was of the Baptist faith.
She married her husband of 71 years Mr. Howard Jackson Russell on March 12, 1941. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2012.
She is survived by her son Freddie Russell of Corning, AR.; her daughter Brenda George of Corning, AR.; one sister Bea Demers of California; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Charles and Iva Sarah (Means) Baccus; five brothers Loyd "Buddy" Baccus, Gerlin Baccus, Robert Baccus, Clarence Baccus, Norman Baccus; two sisters Bessie Elizabeth Bradberry and Georgia Millholland.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Herb Holsapple officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 1:00 PM until the time of services.
