JoAnn Marie McNamee, 88, of Benton, formerly of Corning passed away September 10, 2021 at Amberwood Health and Rehab in Benton.

Mrs. McNamee was born in Corning on June 12, 1933. She was retired from the Corning School District where she worked in the cafeteria for 20 years. She was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and she loved to visit with local veterans in the Poplar Bluff, MO area. She loved collecting everything hummingbird related, camping, dancing with her husband, making new friends and spending time with her family. She was of the Christian faith.

On November 23, 1957, she married Harold McNamee. They most recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. Other survivors include her children Debbie (Al) Sherwin of Rockford, IL, Mike (Vicky) McNamee of Benton and Star Henson of Bryant; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents D. D. and Gillie (Esmon) Verdier; brothers Billy Dee and Howard Verdier; and sister Geneva Glass.

A graveside service will be held Monday September 13, 2021 at 1:00pm at Roberts Cemetery in Neelyville, MO. Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home.
