Joe Johnson

Joe Johnson, 79, of Searcy passed away September 17, 2021 at Unity Health in Searcy.

Mr. Johnson was born May 11, 1942 in Braggadocio, MO. He was an insurance salesman and heat and air contractor. He loved fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and was an avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan. Joe graduated with his B. S. in Business Administration from Southern Arkansas University. He was a member of College Church of Christ in Searcy.

On October 23, 1971, he married Terry Morgan. They would have celebrated their 50 ^th wedding anniversary this October. Other survivors include his children Joni (Chad) Day of Searcy, Van (Ashley) Johnson of Cabot, and Shelby (Rick) Fortenberry of Calhoun, LA; brother Jerry (Alma) Johnson of Corning; sister Wilma Jean (Jim) Atwood of O’Fallon, MO; grandchildren Julia (Koby) Hartis, Emma Day, Lynlee Day, Miller McBryde, Meadow Lindon, Sebastian Lindon, Judge (Lindsay) Fortenberry, Cilia Fortenberry, and Maleah Fortenberry; and several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents E. C. and Madelle (Ellis) Johnson; sister Willa Dean Hollis; and grandson John Joseph Day.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Children’s Homes, 5515 Old Walcott Rd., Paragould, AR 72450 or Gerald and Emma Lou Morgan Endowed Scholarship Fund, Harding University, 915 E Market Ave., Searcy, AR 72149-5615.

A private burial will take place at Piggott Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning.

A public celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday September 25, 2021 at 7 ^th and Mueller Church of Christ in Paragould. A livestream of the service will be provided on 7 ^th and Mueller Church of Christ’s Facebook page.
