Joe Skaggs

Mr. Lowell W. "Joe" Skaggs, 91, of Corning, AR., passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Piggott Community Hospital in Piggott, AR. Mr. Skaggs was born in Lanton, MO., on January 17, 1922. He was a retired farmer, he enjoyed playing dominoes and cards. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was affiliated with Grace Baptist Church.

He married his wife of 65 years Helen Frances (Toombs) Skaggs, she preceded him in death on May 2, 2012.

He is survived by three sons Benny Skaggs and wife Karon of Success, AR., Billy Skaggs and wife Brenda of Corning, AR., Rex Skaggs and wife Gloria of Corning, AR.; one daughter Kathy and husband Hirthel Welker of Tucumcari, NM.; six grandchildren Jennifer and husband Craig Barker, Shelby and husband David Burkheart, Shannon and husband Beau Wilcox, Jason Skaggs and wife Karie, Jamie and husband TJay Lathum, Billy Skaggs and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents Benjamen Buckley "Buck" and Ora (Woods) Skaggs; two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 25, 2013 at 12:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 10:30 AM until the time of service.
