John Glen Conner was born November 9, 1930, in Strang, Nebraska. He was the fifth of eight children born to Rev. WG and Viola Conner. Being of the Christian faith, John went to his Heavenly home on Monday, October 27, 2025 in Corning, Arkansas, where he lived the majority of his long, inventive life.
John married his wife, Dorline Miller, on the 11th of March 1955 in Corning, where they raised three children and spoiled their grandchildren.
John was a dreamer, an inventor and a builder. If you needed a tool, he could make it. If you needed trusses for a basketball arena, John was your guy. If you needed an electric car for a parade or a gazebo or even a windmill, no problem. John would take something old apart and make something even better from it.
John loved spending time with his grandchildren. If it happened to be right after a big rain - even better! He would take whichever child was handy and walk the fields looking for arrowheads. When the weather was dry, or if there were crops in the field, he made his own.
John was “King of the Grill” on summer holidays when family gathered. He would grill burgers by the dozen and of course, his favorite, barbecued bologna with his special sauce and baked beans. John loved having a crowd around. The more the merrier!
John loved to be with his family and friends. When he was on the road, he would show up and park his 18-wheeler nearby. He would stay for a few hours, share a meal, and then be on his way.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. WG and Viola Conner, and his seven brothers and sisters, Eddie, Bob, Paul, Ruth, Clara Mae, Jay and Mary Louise. He is survived by his wife, Dorline, of the home, his son Mike (Lori) Conner of Pyatt, AR, his daughter Lisa (Herbert L.) Holsapple of Corning and his daughter Julie (Gary) Jafar of White Hall. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Courtney (James) Rigdon, Natalie Van Nada, Aaron (Savannah) Conner, Robin (Wes) Malott, Mary Conner (Vincent Gammill), Ella Jafar and William Jafar. John had fourteen great-grandchildren: Conner (Jasmine) Van Nada, Dalton Reed, Marka (Brandon) Ellis, Harrison Reed, Holden Jones, Charlee Jones, Hudson Conner, Millie Grace Conner, Annie Sutton Conner, Crosby Conner, Everett Gammill, Rikki Malott, Jules Malott and Felix Gammill. He also had three great-great-grandchildren: Gemma Ellis, Oakley Reed and Gianna Ellis. John also loved a heart-full of d-nieces and d-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Allen Conner, Randy Conner, Ricky Conner, Carter Conner, Aaron Conner, Conner Van Nada and Dalton Reed. Bill Lincoln will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
