Mrs. Juanita Stacy Smalley, 93, of Jonesboro, AR., formerly of Corning, AR., gained her angel wings on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Pocahontas, AR., on February 15, 1927, to C.C. and Mazie (Staniford) Stacy. She was one of nine siblings. She graduated in 1945 from Knobel High School where she earned the distinction of salutatorian. She went on and married the love of her life, Harding Smalley.
Her passions were mostly church related activities. She was a long-time member of the Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, United Methodist Women’s president, representative of District Conference and a devoted member of the Methodist choir. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends, watching Razorback basketball, St. Louis Cardinal baseball and loved her special cat, Jacq.
She is survived by her son, Jim Smalley of Fayetteville, AR.; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Rick Martin of Jonesboro, AR.; granddaughter, Hannah Raines; two great-grandchildren, Conner and Summer Raines; and nephew Jim Stacy along with numerous other nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Smalley was preceded in death by her husband, Harding Smalley; parents C.C. and Mazie (Staniford) Stacy; one grandson, Beau Smalley; and eight Stacy siblings.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, PO Box 25, Corning, AR 72422.
Pallbearers are Todd Stacy, Greg Stacy, Glendon Stacy Jr., Steve Collar, Rick Martin, and Cody Raines. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Stacy and Orlando “Lil O” Oliver.
