Mrs. Laverda Maple, 83, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mrs. Maple was born in Moark, AR., on October 4, 1932. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, quilting, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she especially loved watching Saint Louis Cardinal Baseball with her youngest great-grandchild. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Corning, AR.
She married her husband of 66 years Mr. Alvin Leon Maple on August 23, 1949. He survives, other survivors are three daughters Donna and husband Don Andrew of Poplar Bluff, MO., Marsha and husband Billy Butts of Paragould, AR., Dennia VanVickle of Anahuac, TX.: one son Mike Maple and wife Kim Maple of Sheridan, AR.; one brother Joe Johnson of Paragould, AR.; five sisters Guynneth Nelson of Jonesboro, AR., Fletta Brewer of Corning, AR., Debbie Wilkerson of Springfield, MO., Darlene Hambrick of Reyno, AR., Celesta Allen of Reyno, AR.; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Everett and Lola (Richardson) Johnson; three brothers Ladoin Johnson, Dewayne Johnson, General Johnson and one sister Imodene Mason.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kent Modlin and Pastor Don Andrews officiating. Burial will follow the services at Bond Cemetery in Knobel, AR. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Junior Bowers, Trey Bowers, Larry Catt, Bruce Catt, James Nipper, Bill Swint. Honorary sisters are Judy Catt, Betty Bowers and Bernice Bowers.
