Laveta Groves

Laveta Groves, 85, of Corning passed away October 7, 2021 at home.

Mrs. Groves was born November 9, 1935 in Corning. She was retired from Johansen Shoe Factory formerly of Corning. She was a homemaker and caregiver who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping, playing games and watching hummingbirds. She was a member of Corning Church of Christ.

Survivors include her sons Vernon (Mary) Groves of Corning and Lonnie (Kay) Groves of Datto; brothers Dewayne and Stanley Goodman; sisters Lou Hicks, Wanda Berry, and Yvone Counts; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and special friend Lawrence Warbritton.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Cindy Groves; parents Herman and Ruby (Leonard) Goodman; and brother Danny Goodman.

A graveside service will be held Saturday October 9, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Corning Cemetery with James Johnston officiating under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
