Mr. Alvin Leon Maple, 84, of Corning, AR., passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at home. Mr. Maple was born in Peach Orchard, AR., August 19, 1932. he was a farmer and a member of Corning Masonic Lodge #719 Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Corning.
He married his wife of 66 years Laverda Anita (Johnson) Maple on August 23, 1949. She preceded him in death on November 19, 2015.
He is survived by three daughters Donna and husband Don Andrews of Poplar Bluff, MO., Marsha and husband Billy Butts of Paragould, AR., Dennia VanVickle of Anahuac, TX.; one son Mike Maple and wife Kim of Sheridan, AR.; one sister Jean LaValley of West Park Beach, FL.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three honorary sisters Betty Bowers, Berniece Bowers and Judy Catt.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents Wilburn "W.W". and Flossie (Holland) Maple and brother Lamar Maple.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 17, 2017 at 12:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Kent Modlin, Sunny Williams, Don Andrews; and Jerry Kirby officiating. Burial will follow the services at Bond Cemetery in Knobel, AR. Visitation will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
