Leona Herring

Mrs. Leona Mae Herring, 95, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Walnut Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Walnut Ridge, AR. She was born in Peach Orchard, AR., on March 10, 1916. She was a homemaker and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Corning.

She married her husband Joe Herring on December 25, 1934 in Peach Orchard. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1992.

She is survived by one daughter Betty Jackson of Corning, AR.; one granddaughter Lisa Lewallen of Ravenden, AR.; two great-grandchildren Lacey Cotter, Channing Claude; four great-great-grandchildren Dylan Cotter, Miley Cotter, Cole Williams and Chacey Claude.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary Francis (Stroud) Bowers; husband Joe Herring; one daughter Mary Herring; grandson Kreg Jackson; son-in-law Mike Jackson; brothers and sisters Iva Asher, Jesse Bowers, Lucy Smith, Nettie Jane Hampton, Nora Ellen Sullivan, Joseph Hardin Herring and Mary Elizabeth Herring.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Corning Cemetery with Reverend Don Dingus officiating. Public visitaion will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
