Lola Bowers

Lola Lee Doris Bowers, 92, of Collierville TN, passed away June 25, 2025 at Ciel Assisted Living of Collierville.

Lola was born December 27, 1932. She grew up in a large family of six brothers and sisters in the Cache Lake Community and graduated from Knobel High School. After graduation, she attended business college in Poplar Bluff, MO where she earned a secretarial certificate. She also attended college at Memphis State University, completing all the night courses she could. Her first job was for the local Poplar Bluff newspaper which she held for several years. Lola later moved to Memphis, TN and worked as an executive secretary for General Motors until her retirement in 1996. She loved to travel and in her earlier years, traveling to many different countries.

Survivors include sister, Lee Bowers McKay of Hattiesburg, MS; seven nieces  including Meredith, Sharon, Lisa, Robin, Lee Ann, Carletta and Nila who served as her assistant care giver and eight nephews including Kenny, Barry, Kevin, Steve, Patrick, Todd, Christopher and Kelly. Faithful caregivers Friona Murry and Evelyn Jackson

She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ethel (Henry) Bowers; sister Rose Aline Cruce; brothers Gerald, Fredman, Cecil and Melvin Bowers.

A graveside service will be held at Bond Cemetery, Knobel, AR. Monday June 30, 2025 at 10 a.m. under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home, Corning. Burial will follow after service.
