Louise Rice

Mrs. Velma Louise Rice, 87, of Corning, AR., passed away surrounded by her family and church family Thursday, May 29, 2014 at home. Mrs. Rice was born in Pollard, AR., on March 7, 1927. She was retired from Basler Electric and a homemaker, she enjoyed visiting family and friends, cooking, crochet, needlepoint and loved attending church where she was a long time member at the First General Baptist Church in Corning.

She married her first husband Berlon Smith on March 29, 1946 he preceded her in death on March 27, 1969. She married Marlin Rice on October 16, 1971 in Corning, he also preceded her in death on March 8, 2008.

She is survived by two daughters Kelly and her husband Jerry Davis of Current View, MO., Pat Baxley of Cuthbert, GA.; one step-son Pete Rice of Rockford, IL.; one sister Maxine Chandler of Cabot, AR.; five grandsons Brad Davis and wife Ashley, Clint Davis, Logan Davis, Michael McCollum and wife Shelly, Greg White; nine great-grandchildren Lillian Davis, Jackson Davis, Max Davis, Clay Davis, Jacob Davis, Chris White, Justin White, Chase McCollum, Kyla McCollum; and great-great-granddaughter Ellie Grace White.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; her parents Thomas Jefferson and Beulah (Dunlap) Mathers; one daughter Brenda McCollum and one sister Lorene Battle.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Don Dingus and Monty Flanigan officiating. Burial will follow the services at new Hope Cemetery in Pollard, AR. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Pallbearers David Burkhart, David Ladd, Don Miller, Doug Fowler, Bruce Taylor and Kenny Francis.
Honorary Pallbearers Bob Chapman, Phil Short and Randall Coleman.

Memorials should be made to the First General Baptist Church in Corning.
