Lynn Stout

July 25, 1922 — January 13, 2016

Mr. Burton Lynn Stout, 93, of Southaven, MS., passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at North Delta Hospice and Palliative Services in Southaven, MS. He was born July 25, 1922 in Medicine Lodge, KS., the son of Charles Wesley and Florence Mason (Caywood) Stout. On November 21, 1942 he married Miss Paula Virginia Park of Heelstring, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Wesley and Florence Mason (Caywood) Stout; one brother Charles J. Stout and a daughter Mana Lyle Stout.

He is survived by a sister Mary Mason Herbrandson of Corvallis, OR.; one daughter Gayle and husband Danny Hardwick of Southaven, MS.; three sons Barry Stout and wife Dottie of Arlington, TN., Byron Stout and wife Patricia of Horn Lake, MS., Scot Stout of Jefferson City, MO.; seven grandchildren Todd Hardwick (Shelly), Kyle Hardwick, Mark Hardwick (Misty), Rachel Evans (Sandy), Ragan Memmott, Shane Ferguson (Brandy), Misty Ferguson Stout-Wood (Charles); four great-grandchildren, Brady Foster, Benjamin Hardwick, Katherine Hardwick, and Ethan Hardwick.

Lynn was a Christian and a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. He was the baritone in the Memphis gospel quartet known as the Southernaires in the 1950s and 1960s. Lynn was also a long-time Mason. He enjoyed gardening and wood carving, sharing both with family and friends. Lynn was a voracious reader, especially of Zane Grey westerns and never lost his love for learning new things. He loved keeping up with relatives and was proud to have a genealogy that reached back over 800 years.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Linda Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the services at Richwoods Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 1:00 PM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be sent to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
