Mamie (Street) Ainley was born September 15, 1915 in Biggers, Arkansas. Mamie was the sixth of nine children born to William and Maggie Jane (Merry) Street.
Her father’s early death leaving a widow and nine small children created a family steeped in tradition of caring for one another and finding great honor in doing so.
Mamie worked for Clay County REA and later opened a beauty shop in her home in order to care for her mother with help from brothers and sisters until her death in 1975.
In 1963, Mamie married MB Ainley, Jr. and they made their home in Corning where they continued to care not only for one another, but for their parents, siblings, nieces and nephews and their community.
Continuing this tradition, following the death of her husband, Mamie moved to Conway to be loved and cared for by her nephew, Carter Rickman, whom she help raise.
The last of the nine children, Mamie passed peacefully in her sleep, with Carter by her side and began her journey to be reunited with a family she absolutely adored.
Survivors include her nephew, Carter Rickman and wife Debra; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be at Ermert Funeral home in Corning, Arkansas, Sunday, January 18 at 1:00 pm, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm in the Corning Cemetery with Ron Patterson officiating.
