Mrs. Myrtle Marie (Spence) Dowdy Locke, 84, of Corning, AR., passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at General Baptist Nursing Home in Piggott, AR. Mrs. Dowdy Locke was born in Atmore, AL., on April 1, 1931. She was a retired hand-cutter from Johansen Brothers Shoe Factory in Corning. She enjoyed gardening roses and walking.
She is survived by one daughter Judy Gambrell of Brookland, AR.; two sons Mike Dowdy of Corning, AR., C.J. “Junior” Dowdy of Corning, AR.; one sister Doris Payne of Stapleton, AL.; three brother J.D. Spence of Walnut Hill, FL., Alton Spence of Walnut Hill, FL., John Spence of Walnut Hill, FL.; two grandchildren Michael Dowdy, Jr., Michelle Guthrey and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands Clarence Dowdy and Raymond Locke; her parents John Ashley and Alice Rebecca (Albritton) Spence; a sister Annie Mae Powell and one grandson Brian Gambrell.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning with Pastor John Spence officiating.
