Mrs. Mary Ruth James, 83, of Corning, AR., passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mrs. James was born in Marble Hill, MO, on August 20, 1929. A long time employee and fitting room foreman, she was retired from Clayton Shoe Company. In retirement, she worked as a volunteer and as the office manager at the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas in Norfork, Arkansas. She enjoyed singing gospel music and traveling. She was of the Baptist faith.
She married Leamon James on February 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1989.
She is survived by one son Rick James (Gloria) of Corning, AR.; two daughters Susan Duff Jespersen (Roger) of Cape Girardeau, MO., Sandra Stafford of Bono, AR.; five grandchildren Ross Duff, Joy Duff Schulz, Monica Skidmore, Tina Burns, Tricia Reed; six great-grandchildren Taylor, Logan, Arian, Brandon, Bailey, Kylee; two half brothers Hollis Dockins of Hanover, IL., Lonnie Nelson of Okmulgee, OK.; step-brother Ralph Nelson of Imperial, MO.; two half sisters Tressie Moore of Neelyville, MO., and Esther Gray of Perryville, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Emmett Franklin Trickey and Dorothy (Donaldson) Nelson; step-father Sam Nelson; five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Roger Jespersen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Williams Cemetery in Corning. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas or the Alzheimer’s Association.
