Mrs. Mary Alice Sanders, 89, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Corning Therapy and Living Center in Corning, AR. Mrs. Sanders was born in Success, AR., on June 23, 1922. She was a homemaker, she loved crotcheting, sewing, quilting and puzzles. She was a member of Success First Baptist Church.
She married her husband Hughie Alvin Sanders on June 8, 1946 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2004.
She is survived by one son Michael Sanders and wife Carolyn of Paragould, AR.; one daughter Janet and husband James Mason of Corning, AR.; three sisters Nina Jo Williams of Corning, AR., Billie Tilley of Toppenish, WA., Judy Campbell of High Ridge, MO.; one brother Steve Vannada of Corning, AR.; three grandchildren Shannon Powers, Jamie Mason, Nathan Sanders; four great-grandchildren Hannah and Hattie Powers, Eli and Emma Mason.
She was preceded in death by her husband Hughie Sanders; parents Bill and Gladys (Choate) Vannada; brothers Sonny and Bud Vannada; three sisters Jean Foster, Pat Long, and Orpha Lee Cox.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow the service in Hitt Cemetery near Success, AR. Public visitation will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
