Mr. Melvin “Jack” Mitchell, 85, of Corning, AR., passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at SouthEast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, MO. Mr. Mitchell was born March 9, 1936 in Leachville, AR. He was a retired quality control inspector, for Darling Store Fixtures, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, blue grass and country music, yard sales and fixing watches.
He married Marie (Stice) Mitchell on October 10, 1974. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his daughter Sandra (Jeff) Schermerhorn of Henderson, NV.; sister Joyce Steel of Paragould, AR.; grandchildren John (Victoria) Schermerhorn, Derek Schermerhorn, Amanda (Derek) Rogers, Kaci (Jeff) Erickson, Renae (Robert) Espinosa, Deona (Robert) Plunk and Lorinda Mayfield; great grandchildren Haillie, Colton, Parker, Riley, Conrad, Max, Carter, Emma, Wyatt, Makenzie, Parker, Riley, Grace, Keanen, Beth, and Gary; five great great grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents James Stanford and Rachel Elizabeth (Davis) Mitchell; brothers Orville, Floyd, Lloyd, and Gene Mitchell; sisters Ruby Labrot, Jewell Lane and Ruth Mitchell; and many nepews and nieces.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Lavern Reed officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.
