Mrs. Minnie Elizabeth Gillam, 88, of Poplar Bluff, MO., formerly of Saint Louis passed away Tuesday March 27, 2012 at Cedargate Nursing Home in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mrs. Gillam was born in Boydsville, AR., on May 15, 1923. She was a retired telephone operator for SouthWestern Bell. She attended Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews Cecil Seachrist of Doniphan, MO., Loretta Smith of Clayton, NC., Betty Kraeger of Saint Louis, MO., Harold Seachrist of Corning, AR., James Smart of Michigan, Jerry Smart of Indiana, Patti Smart of Michigan and Bobby Smart of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmar Gillam in 1971; her parents Robert and Alzadie (Hefner) Smart; one brother Luther Smart and one sister Irene Rowe.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 PM in the Czar Cemetery in Viburnum, MO. Public visitation will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
