Mrs. Nixine B. Harpole, 94, formerly of Rockbridge, IL., died at 3:50 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville, IL. Mrs. Harpole was born in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence County, AR., on March 23, 1922 the daughter of the late Nicodemus and May (Whitson) Copeland.
She married Odell Rice and together with their two children called Corning, AR., their home. It was after the death of Odell and her children that Nixine relocated to the Saint Louis, MO., area.
For many years she owned and operated a beauty shop on Whitelaw Avenue in Wood River, IL., until 1978 when she married Wayburn Harpole. The two resided in Rockbridge, IL., for many years and shared 16 years together before his death on December 25, 1994.
Although Nixine faced many hardships and heartaches throughout her life, she never let her faith in God waiver.
Surviving are her two step-sons James Harpole and wife Patty of Bethalto, IL., Boyd Harpole and wife Cindy of Brighton, IL.; a step-daughter from a previous marriage Linda and husband Ed Drainer of Jerseyville, IL.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Delvetta Rice; son Wayne Rice and all her siblings.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 PM, Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Heartland Baptist Church in Godfrey, IL., with Reverend Jim Grant officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Corning Cemetery in Corning, AR., where Nixine will be laid to rest alongside her husband Odell and their two children.
