Noel E. Spence, Sr.

Mr. Noel Edward Spence, Sr., 94, of Corning, AR., passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mr. Spence was born in Morrilton, AR., on September 5, 1922 to William Duran and Della Mae (McCoy) Spence. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. While serving, he received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with one Bronze Service Star, two Good Conduct Medals, World War II Victory Medal. He later began working for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier until his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement by duck hunting, fishing, roller skating and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On January 19, 1945 in Corning, AR., Edward married Mable Grayson, they enjoyed 49 years of marriage together until her death on June 23, 1994.

He is survived by his sons, Noel Edward Spence, Jr., and wife Susan of Corning, AR., Richard Stanley Spence and wife Cindy of Corning, AR., Donald Kevin Spence and wife Sandra of Marmaduke, AR.; one brother Harold Dean Spence of Auburn, WA.; his grandchildren Barbara, Noel Edward III (Trey), Derek, Stacey, Julie, Jason, Matthew, Sheila, Susan; his great-grandchildren Dustin, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, Kennedie, Griffin, Hannah, Kevin, Madelyn; his nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, seven brothers Chester Spence, Rueben Spence, Rayburn Spence, Aaron Spence, Charlie Spence, Ulysses Spence, Calvin Spence; one sister Bertha Spence and daughter Janice Sue Spence.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gary Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Cemetery in Corning with Military Honors. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
