Norma Jean Calhoun

Norma Jean Calhoun, 80, of Jonesboro, AR., passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024 at home surrounded with lots of love and family. Mrs. Calhoun was born November  21, 1943 in Knobel, AR. Jean had retired from Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould. She worked 27 years taking care of the elderly. After retiring, she lived for her family. She always looked forward to the holidays, where she could make sure we had it planned out with her girls. Cooking was her hobby, always looking for that recipe that looked so good!!! She also loved to shop and look around no matter the store. She enjoyed getting out. Jean loved spending time with her Husband Joe which she had spoiled!!! She always wanted the kids, grand kids, great grands, and others to visit. She was the most loving wife, momma and mom-mom. She worried about everything and everyone. Jean was a member of the Bono Church of Christ. She loved God.

She married her husband, Billy Joe Calhoun, who survives, on December 1, 1960. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary last December. Other survivors include her children Lisa (Guy) Willams of Paragould, AR., Myra (Nick) Tate of Jonesboro, AR., Joey (Tammie) Calhoun of Marmaduke, AR., Tony Calhoun of Jonesboro, AR., Kim (Henry) Ogden of Poplar Bluff, MO., Shane (Melinda) Calhoun of Imboden, AR.; sister Donna (Rick) Holden of Poplar Bluff, MO.; brother Lonnie (Dawn) Hanner of Bernie, MO.; brother-in-law Wayne Burns of Poplar Bluff, MO.; 14 grandkids; 39 great-grandkids; 3 great-great-grandkids and 3 on the way; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gale and Polly (Arnold) Hanner; brother Ronnie Hanner; sisters Carolyn Luttrell and Pauletta Burns; grandchild Calvin Lynn Willams, Jr.; granddaughter-in-law Jessica Tate; and great-granddaughter Emerald Ogden.

Pallbearers will be Guy Willams, Cameron Willams, Nathen Ogden, Corey Tate, Jonathan VanNada, Cody Calhoun, Zach Ogden, and Hayden Calhoun.

The family would like to thank Dierksen Hospice in Jonesboro Ar.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Chad Wagner officiating. Burial will follow the services at Bond Cemetery in Knobel, AR.
