Opal Lee Thrasher, 97, of Granite City, IL, passed away Dec. 28, 2024 at home.
Mrs. Thrasher was born October 14, 1927 in Knobel. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, reading her Bible daily, attending church, and listening to old-time country music. She was a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church in Granite City, IL and had been attending Well of Living Water Ministries with her daughter most recently.
On September 25, 1946, she married Silas Thrasher. They were married 51 years prior to his death on Dec. 22, 1997.
Survivors include daughters Sharon Riddle of Portageville, MO and Barbara (Modesta) Thrasher of Granite City, IL; bonus grandchildren Danette Riddle, Quincy Riddle and Keith Woodard; bonus great grandchildren Kayla Lyons, Danielle Riddle, Hannah Rushing and Amber Gonzales; and 13 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Chiles and May Belle (Lynch) Foster; brothers Joe David and Charles Foster, J. C. Moody; and sisters Beatrice Jackson, Dessie Williams, Dianne Glenn, Claudine Nixon and Wynona Foster.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 2, 2025 at Ermert Funeral Home from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Bill Moody and Rev Dianna Thomas-Scarlet officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Pollard.
