Mrs. Phena Marie Hovis, 91, of Reyno, AR., passed away Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, AR. Mrs. Hovis was born in Mount Ida, AR., on May 27, 1923. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, embroidery, cooking and fishing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Reyno.
She married her husband of 62 years John Emory Hovis on September 7, 1940. He preceded her in death December 22, 2002.
She is survived by her children Loretta and husband Rex Dismang of Siloam Springs, AR., Janice and husband J.M. Edington of Corning, AR., Sharon and husband Gevan Murphy of Imboden, AR., Patricia and husband Cleitus Boyd of Corning, AR., Meryl and husband Barry Whitledge of Corning, AR., Cheryl and husband Bill McCoy of Saint Louis, MO., Stephanie and husband Spike Jones of Biggers, AR., Larry Doyle Hovis and wife Janice of Reyno, AR., Patrick Hovis and wife Sue of Ravenden, AR., Roger Hovis and wife Willene of Reyno, AR., Randy Hovis of Reyno, AR., Richard Hovis and wife Melinda of Reyno, AR.; siblings Freeman Fann of Walnut Ridge, AR., Wayman “Jack” Fann of Malden, MO., Dorothy Thompson of Collinsville, IL., Margie Layman of Troy, IL.; 35 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents William Benjamin and Frankie (Pippin) Fann; sons Ronald Hovis, Lesley Hovis, David Hovis; sisters Eva Thompson, Ruby Skates; brothers Lloyd Fann, Maxie Fann, Lehman “Peat” Fann; grandchildren Janetta Edington and Lisa Hovis Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Reyno, AR., with Reverends Roger Hovis and Patrick Hovis officiating. Burial will follow the services at Nelson Cemetery in Reyno, AR. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
