Shelby Ladd

Mr. Shelby Leon Ladd, SR., 80, of Corning, AR., passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Ladd was born in Trumann, AR., on October 14, 1930. He was owner/operator of Ladd’s Gun and Pawn in Corning, he also worked for the City of Corning. He was retired from Johansen Brothers Shoe Factory. He loved animals, hunting, and spending time with friends, family, and his grandchildren. He was Church of Christ in faith.

He married his wife Roberta Ann (Foster) Ladd on December 29, 1951. She survives. Other survivors include four sons Jimmy Ladd and wife Carla, Terry Ladd and wife Wendi, Jerry Ladd and wife Glenda, David Ladd and wife Judy all of Corning, AR.; one daughter Cathy and husband Bobby Harpole of Imboden, AR.; daughter-in-law Brenda Ladd Skaggs of Corning, AR.; two sisters Lorene Herring and Bonnie Bradley both of Yucaipa, CA.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Samuel Henry and Gertie (Grady) Ladd; son Shelby Ladd, Jr.; and brother Lee Wayne Ladd.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow the service in Black’s Cemetery near Palatka, AR. Public visitaion will be held Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
