Sherman Blanton, 78, of Meridian, MS, passed away November 27, 2021 at home. Mr. Blanton born June 29, 1943 in Corning. He was a retired mechanic and truck driver who proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. He enjoyed fishing, playing with his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He attended Faith Assembly in Quitman, MS.
On July 22, 1967, he married Carol Dobbins. They recently celebrated their 54 th wedding anniversary. Other survivors include his daughters Dianna (Jared) Keeling of Eminence, MO, Debbie (Daniel) Hall of Inverness, FL, Sharla (Roger) Leder of Meridian, and Tiffany (Jacob) Dalcollo of Paragould; brother Homer Blanton of St. Charles, MO, Jimmy and Dale Blanton, both of Rockford, IL; sisters Frances Dobbins of Hickoria, Darlene Campbell of Sidney, NE, Linda Huckabee and Betty Tedder, both of Rockford, IL, and Lisa Taylor of Potts Camp, MS; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Marilyn Blanton of CO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Obert Zeffner and Hattie Lucille (Porter) Blanton; brother Bill Blanton; and granddaughter Hailey Barton.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor C. A. Farmer officiating. Burial will be at Post Oak Cemetery in McDougal.
