Mrs. Thelma Lavone Owens, 91 of Poplar Bluff, MO., passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Cedargate Healthcare. Mrs. Owens was born in Oxly, MO., on October 3, 1933. She worked at Florsheim Shoe in Corning, AR, from around 1961 until it closed, and then at Basler Electric until it closed in 2004 when she was 70 years old. She loved to bake and embroidery and her door was always open. She had a heart of gold and everyone who knew her in Corning called her Ma. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephews whom she called her baby angels.
She married her husband of 39 years, Arlie DeWitt Owens on August 17,1979, who preceded her in death in 2018. She was also preceded in death by her parents Morgan Webster and Virgie Opal Ormsby, her brother, Boyce Ormsby, and sister Alpha Smith
She is survived by her brother Bill Ormsby (Joann), her nieces Pat Truelove (Tim), and Karla Bell (Santana), and her great-nieces and nephews aka her baby angels: Monica Truelove-Hill (Steve), Morgan Leach (Charley), Mitch Truelove, Sophia, Corbin, Colt, and Carver Leach, and Margot and Flora Hill.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Earl Ladyman officiating. Burial will follow services at Corning Cemetery.
