Mrs. Valetta Sumpter, 90, of Corning, AR., passed away Friday, February, 4, 2011 at home. Mrs. Sumpter was born in Corning, she was a homemaker, she loved to cook for those she loved.
She married her husband Granville "Red" Sumpter on January 17, 1942, they enjoyed 68 years together before he passed on December 27, 2010.
She is survived by two sisters Billie Fortenberry of Corning, AR., Helen Ennis of Corning, AR; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents William Alfred and Emma (Douglas) Walker; two brothers Roy Strobel, Herman Walker; two sisters Mozell Bracken and Nellie Arnold.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery. Public visitation will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
