Velma Engel

Velma Engel, 97, of Peach Orchard, passed away October 9, 2023 at Greene Acres Nursing Home in Paragould.

Mrs. Engel was born August 27, 1926 in Peach Orchard. She was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Knobel until the closed and remained of the Catholic Faith.

On December 31, 1946, she married Leo Engel. They were married 38 years prior to his death on May 14, 1985.

Survivors include her daughter Kathy (Mike) Poynor of Peach Orchard, grandchild Katie Harrington, great grandchildren Matthew (Kayla) and Heather Harrington, great great grandchild Wallace Lynn, nephew Larry (Angie) Walker, niece Doris (Don) Morris, and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents Charles and Edna (Smith) Walker, brother Calvin, and sisters Nellie, Dorothy, and Thelma.

Graveside service will be held Friday October 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Knobel under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home of Corning. Burial will be at the cemetery.
