Velma Roofe

Mrs. Velma Lois Roofe, 95, of Corning, AR., passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at Corning Therapy and Living Center surrounded by her family. Mrs. Roofe was born in Nimmons, AR., on March 12, 1924. She was a homemaker who loved to sew, flowers, gardening and spending time with her family.

She married her husband of 69 years Mr. W.T. Roofe on March 15, 1941. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2011.

Survivors include her children Virginia and husband Owen Little of Corning, AR., Mildred and husband Tommy Harmon of Corning, AR., Linda and husband Byron Meridith of Corning, AR., Doyle Roofe and wife Kimberly of Corning, AR., Debbie and husband Jerry Wilder of Corning, AR.; brother Roy Herren of Corning, AR.; sisters Flossie Murray of Piggott, AR., Lucille Wentz of Peavley, MO.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by one son Thomas Charles “Bud” Roofe; one grandson Justin Wilder; great grandsons Zachary and Samuel Williams; parents Wilburn and Nola (Nettles) Herren; two sisters and five brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Ermert Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gary Halcomb officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
