Mr. Vernon Ahrent, 86, of Corning, AR., passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, AR. Mr. Ahrent was born in the Mager Community (Corning, AR.). He enjoyed spending his time reading, refurbishing antique farm machines and traveling with his family in fact they made 14 summer trips in a row. He was a retired farmer and still loved to drive grain trucks to Riceland, he enjoyed looking after the rice corps from field prep, planting, watering levels up to and including the harvest. He was a member of the Saint Matthew Lutheran Church in Corning, AR.
He married his wife Inita (Lafferty) Ahrent on February 26, 1955. She survives. Other survivors include three sons Karl
Ahrent and wife Susan of Jonesboro, AR., Ernest Ahrent of Springfield, MO., Warren Ahrent and wife Vicky of Corning, AR.; one daughter Amelia and husband Kevin Miller of Corning, AR.; four brothers Edwin, Hubert, Martin and Louis Ahrent all of Corning, AR.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents Fred and Dora (Allmandinger) Ahrent; and one sister Ruth Letterman.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jon C. Bishchof officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Williams Cemetery near Corning. Public visitation will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 from 12:00 noon until time of service.
