Violet M. Burns

Mrs. Violet M. Burns, 89, of Corning, AR., passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Mrs. Burns was born in Brookings, AR., on December 23, 1924. She was a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, crafting and playing games at the senior citizens center, she was a supporter of veteran's organizations, Easter Seals and other good causes. She a member of the Corning Church of Christ.
She married her husband of 40 years Frank Burns on January 2, 1948. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1968.
She is survived by six children Linda and husband Stan Vinson of Corning, AR., Debbie Holman of Corning, AR., Henry Burns and wife Leann of Corning, AR., Donnie Burns and wife Pat of Napa, ID., Ronnie Burns and wife Cynthia of Rogers, AR., David Burns and wife Tonya of Corning, AR.; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents Al and Rosie Estelle (Cozad) Southerly; two sons Freddy Burns, Jimmy Burns; two brothers George Southerly, William Southerly; two sisters Minnie Woolen and Evelyn Cantrell.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce McGrew officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Corning Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, July 28, 2014 from 12:00 PM until the time of service.
