Walter Vernard Woodard, 80, of Corning, Arkansas, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Cambell Healthcare and Senior Living Center in Campbell, Missouri.
Born on April 15, 1945, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Walter was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. His quiet strength and gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army from November 1965 to October 1967, embodying a profound sense of honor and dedication throughout his life. A man of deep faith, he was a longstanding member of the First Apostolic Church in Corning, where he found purpose, community, and comfort in his love for Jesus.
Walter dedicated many years of service to LA Darling, forging lasting friendships during his tenure before enjoying a well-deserved retirement.
His loving family includes his wife, Sharon Woodard, and their children: Dennis (Amy) Woodard, Neina (Brian) Baker, Mick (Sandy) Carver, Scott Carver, and Richard Carver. He is also survived by his siblings: Teresa Gore, Meleta Woodard, Paula Coble, Shelia Schooley, Wayne (Christy) Woodard, Wayland (Judy) Woodard, and Windy (Trisha) Woodard, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Walter was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Woodard; his parents, Elmer and Mae Pauline (Dunahay) Woodard; and his brothers, Dale Woodard, Winston Woodard, and Sonny Sharpe.
Throughout his life, Walter exemplified a love for his family, a strong work ethic, and a spirit of generosity that endeared him to many. His legacy of kindness, humor, and unwavering faith will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the First Apostolic Church in Corning. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Troy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow these services at the Corning Cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home.
