In Memory of Winnie Lee Sheeks Harutun

March 21, 1940 – August 17, 2026

Winnie Lee Sheeks Harutun, 86, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026. Born on March 21, 1940, Winnie was born and raised in Corning, Arkansas, and carried a deep love for her Arkansas roots throughout her life.

Winnie married Dr. Paul David Harutun in 1975 in St. Louis, Missouri. Following their marriage, they made their home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where Winnie lived for 50 years. Winnie and Dave shared a love of sailing and enjoyed many memorable adventures together on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. In December 2025, she returned to Arkansas and moved to Brinkley to be near her beloved twin sister.

Winnie was a dedicated teacher, beginning her career in Popluar Bluff, Missouri, and later teaching in Fort Lauderdale. She was a lifelong learner and an active woman who enjoyed tennis and biking. She was also a member of First Christian Church. Winnie graduated from the University of Arkansas and was a lifelong Razorback. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Winnie was known for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. She had a unique ability to make people laugh and bring joy to those around her. Her spirited personality, independence, and love of life will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Winnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Paul David Harutun, in 1984; her parents, Rubye Elizabeth McCarroll Sheeks and Harden Brooks Sheeks of Corning; and her sister, Emily Sheeks Manatt.

She is survived by her twin sister, Willie L. Sheeks Bandy; nieces Courtney Bandy Manatt (Bently), Nicole Bandy Clayton (Steele), and Jill Manatt Belin (Scott); nephew Logan Brooks Manatt; great nieces: Emily Brooks Clayton, Emily Belin, and Amanda Manatt Story (Bentley); great nephews Cade Clayton (Lauren) and Ben Manatt; and her “special adopted daughter,” Andrea Gade.

A graveside service will be held in Corning, Arkansas, at a later date.

Winnie’s laughter, quick wit, and loving spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered with great affection and missed more than words can express.
